In "The Little Mermaid", Ariel wishes for a different life. She wants different physical attributes (legs) so that she can live the life she dreams of, marry her love, Prince Eric, and live happily ever after. Just like a typical Disney/Hollywood movie, all of this comes true and everyone rejoices.
This story appeals to many of us because we all have or have had desires that at times, seem almost unattainable. Furthermore, we have fears and other obstacles that seem to hold us back from our achievement. I am here to say that if you REALLY want something, go after it and make the change.
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." ~ Lao Tzu
Since changing the way I eat just over 4 weeks ago, I have lost close to 20 pounds. Although you can't see a big difference (it's like a drop in the ocean), I feel different. I have actually hit my first milestone on my long journey, and like the BLOG title suggests, I am now solidly under 300 pounds (that's right, I weighed that much)! My clothes are starting to fit better again, my skin is much better, my confidence is boosted not only because I weigh less, but also because I am achieving my goals. Chemically, I feel VERY different, even in a few short weeks, and I continue to feel better every day.
That's not to say that everything has been perfect. I have been sick with allergies and unfortunately a bout of laryngitis, but overall my energy levels are still WAY up. I sleep much better and I have more energy for my crazy schedule and my family (especially my daughter). Now instead of throwing on a movie for us to watch, I have more energy to play.
My journey is a long one, but to quote Lao Tzu, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."
Speaking of journeys, I am currently in Germany. I arrived here yesterday to coach, teach, and judge. I am interested in how I can continue on my path of health while in the land of beautiful bread, delicious beer, and of course my favourite German sweets, Haribo!. For now however, enjoy one of my favourite musical numbers from, "The Little Mermaid".
